Daniel Burbank joined the WCHS Eyewitness News team in 2023 as an anchor reporter. Born and raised in the greater metro-area of Philadelphia, Penn., he has deep roots on the East Coast in Charleston, W.Va. You can catch Daniel anchoring Eyewitness News weekends at 6 p.m. and 10 & 11 p.m.
His interest in storytelling began at a very young age and followed his career path after touring WCHS-TV at age 5. At six years old, Daniel became the junior radio announcer for a weekly talk show "Festival of the Arts" on WCTC in New Brunswick, N.J. He gained more on-camera experience acting in blockbuster movies for M. Night Shyamalan and Sylvester Stallone. He was a weekend reporter then promoted to anchor at KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota.
While attending Bismarck State College, Daniel also received recognition from The Ground Truth Project for his reports on voting rights. Daniel received an award from the North Dakota AMVETS for his reporting on Gold Star Families who lost loved ones in the Vietnam War and Eric Sevareid Award of Merit for reporting on victims of a devastating apartment fires.
Daniel has also been a proud member of the Society of Professional Journalists since 2015. He lives with his partner and two cats, “Dulcie” and “Kitty.” When he’s not in the studio, he’s out hiking in the Appalachia.
